Shock-wave therapy has been shown to be clinically effective in treating chronic tendon or fascial injuries, when used in conjunction with a holistic treatment approach (biomechanical correction, specific exercises and a gradual return to loading of the affected area).

It uses the same technology as is used on Kidney Stones which causes microtrauma and inflammation to stimulate tissue healing. It also works on reducing pain through the Pain Gait Mechanism.

Shock-wave Therapy may be beneficial for the following chronic conditions:

  • Plantar fasciitis/fasciopathy
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Shin splints
  • ITB
  • Trochanteric Bursitis
  • Tennis Elbow /Golfers Elbow
  • Jumper’s Knee
  • Tendinopathies

Your physiotherapist will assess if this modality is an appropriate treatment approach in each individual clinical case.
